SteadyStack provides enterprise-grade Service Level Agreement (SLA) accounting and compliance reporting for B2B engineering teams.
The Mathematics of Uptime
Availability is calculated on a per-second basis over the selected evaluation window:
$$\text{Availability } (\%) = \left( 1 - \frac{\text{Total Downtime Seconds}}{\text{Total Seconds in Period} - \text{Scheduled Maintenance Seconds}} \right) \times 100$$
Uptime Equivalents per Month (30 Days)
| Target SLA | Allowed Downtime / Month | Allowed Downtime / Year |
|---|---|---|
| 99.0% (Two Nines) | 7 hours, 18 minutes | 3.65 days |
| 99.9% (Three Nines) | 43 minutes, 49 seconds | 8.76 hours |
| 99.95% (Three Nines Five) | 21 minutes, 54 seconds | 4.38 hours |
| 99.99% (Four Nines) | 4 minutes, 22 seconds | 52.6 minutes |
Scheduled Maintenance Windows
To prevent routine database migrations or server upgrades from harming your SLA metrics:
- Navigate to Status Pages -> Maintenance Windows.
- Schedule the start and end timestamp.
- Select which monitors are affected.
During the active maintenance window, checks continue to collect telemetry, but any failures are excluded from your public status page and SOC2 SLA audit reports.
Exporting Audit Reports
Under Dashboard -> Reports -> SLA Reports, you can export:
- Cryptographically Signed PDF Summary: Suitable for enterprise procurement and SOC2 Type II auditors.
- Raw CSV Time-Series: Full second-by-second incident timestamps and quorum logs.
